Comparison is one of the many struggles that we face in our society today. We go through our everyday life look at others and wondering what they think of us, but we need to stop. Stop comparing ourselves, start living up to our full potential and start to realize that we are marvelously made.
Instagram is one of the many examples of how society puts pressure on us to be perfect, it tells you constantly that you are not pretty enough. Every time you scroll through Instagram, you are subconsciously driving yourself insane and that is what they want. You get shown pictures of what ‘perfect’ looks like, perfect eyebrows, perfect cheekbones, perfect eyelashes, but the truth is, even if you don’t look perfect, you still look beautiful. When you scroll through your Instagram feed, it is feeding you with lies, it isn’t even telling you about someone’s life because they choose what you see, and they won’t show you the bad things, only the good. Don’t get caught up in thinking someone’s life is perfect or that they look perfect by what they post on social media, you see what they want you to see, not the truth.
Every day, the average person touches their phone 2, 671 times, and in 1 minute millions of people are wondering, ‘did somebody like my post?’ People have followers but can’t shake the simple feeling of being alone. This is what they want, they want you to feel like you’re not enough and that you have to constantly prove your worth. From the movies you watch to the songs on the radio, to the magazines placed in the grocery aisle, they are all trying to make you feel like you’re not beautiful because they wouldn’t make any money if you already loved who you are. There is no profit in saying that you're already perfect and beautiful.
You don’t need perfect eyebrows or the perfect body, you are already so marvelous, and you don’t need a huge number of people you don’t know to confirm that. Your worth isn’t determined by the price tag on the dress, pair of shoes or a new bag, what really matters is what is deep inside of yourself. Inside, you are truly beautiful. When you smile, you brighten the darkest places and your duty is to keep smiling and make this world a better place. Knowing that your enough is something that nobody can ever take away from you. So who cares about being ‘pretty enough,’ you are already so beautiful.
