The world shouts “Wage War,” but war results in destruction, pain, loss, stress and division.
I say “Wage Peace,” which results in harmony, healing, freedom, calm and creativity.
Peace may sound like some unrealistic, utopian dream, however inner peace and peace with those around you is conceivable.
What is peace?
Peace is freedom from disturbance. Although, peace is not a freedom from something that is disturbing.
The difference between these two phrases is this; The first is talking about the environment. The other is about us.
Peace is not just determined by our environment, but mostly by our mindset. We could be in one of the most challenging seasons of our lives and we can still have peace, because the peace reflected in the state of our minds, enables us to manage how we handle the external factors.
Peace can come in many forms. For example there can be peace in the hard times, and peace in the waiting, peace in the unexpected and peace in times of loss.
Wage peace
We all crave peace. It seems as if it is just out of our reach.
So, how can this peace be achieved?
The writer of 2 Thessalonians 3:16 says this, “Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way...”
Peace is a gift. It comes from the Creator of all, not from the outcomes of curricula or agendas.
Take action! True, lasting peace comes from only one place. Jesus Christ.
We can have this peace if we truly surrender to Him and have Him direct our thinking and actions.
We can’t live this life on our own. We are only human, and to live life successfully we must do everything we can to have this peace and accept the ‘peace gift’ that only the Creator can give.
When we have peace, the world becomes a better place.
Peace is possible
Peace is something so desperately needed in our world.
And anyone can have it!!
Just like joy, it doesn’t matter what circumstances we are in. It is because it is about the now, and an assurance of the future, not the past.
Power in peace
Peace has power. Imagine if in any situation we could not be worried, scared or anxious - this is peace power.
Peace works miracles. Having peace in our lives is a key for us to be more successful. It gives us the freedom and confidence to step out and do more things than we could ever have done before.
Don’t let others steal your peace
Our society is hardwired to make us stressed, telling us that we must constantly be achieving, constantly lifting the bar, always be doing something.
Where is the peace in being continually being stressed out?
Even as the holiday season approaches the voice of the world becomes louder. We are constantly being told that we must be prepared for the event.
Shouldn’t we relax and enjoy the reason for the holiday?
We have the power to change this. We don’t have to listen to what the media bombards us with, because we know the truth. Peace has power and no one can take it away from us.
Conclusion
During this season, remember to stop and give yourself time so that you can really experience that true and lasting peace.
Your circumstances don’t define your peace, other people don’t define your peace. Hold onto that, for there is great power in it.
All peace comes from the Lord of peace who blesses us with this amazing gift which can be used to do the unthinkable.
